<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3333ff;"><span style="color: #333399;">okay </span><span style="color: #333399;">so i admit that this series had me a bit creeped out at some parts, it can be a bit disturbing</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333399;"> or unnerving and also there is a tremendous amount of blood soooooo........yeah. i wouldn't quite rate it R but its an almost. also there is really only one episode that evokes something aherm. so yeah, borderline for this one.</span></div>

"why on earth do i like this?". Yep. It's one of those series. Really there are some awesome qualities to this anime but it falls short on many levels because of the way its presented. While the manga itself is not all that long the anime does give off the feeling that's its been squished to accommodate a 24 ep time slot. So, while Kuroshitsuji has the potential to be great it does fall into the category of unreasonable adoration. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First what I liked about this series was the art. The old english historia with the steam punk style is really appealing. Also, all the dark tones with very smooth strokes add to the creepy coolness. Just coming from reading a vampire series I felt it to be between Vampire Knight and Le Chevelier D'eon, but almost not quite.....heh.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
The art style aside the plot itself was really interesting and enticing. On the other hand, kuroshitsuji had a very interesting way of presenting it. The series had a habit of changing plot style a little to much. As if it couldn't decide. For instance it seemed at first like a simple by episode mystery series, but then it decided oh no wait those filler seeming eps actually hold important stuff and all the minor characters are actually main characters. Oh, and this all makes sense why? So yeah. It was not a very smooth ride. So while at the same time feeling like a series that was crunched on time it seemed full of fillers....eh? But the negatives aside I found the idea of the story itself cool.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>

</div>
</div>
<div>
Also, while the characters seem to have only the potential for cameo roles they are all extremely well put together. All of them are awesome in there own way. And not to let the darkness get you down the personalities of the characters really liven up the series and make it enjoyable. Really the characters are a big part of what makes peeps like the series with the weird plot pattern. They are just plain cool. And might I say quite funny, for yes, this series has a large sense of humor. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With all its ups and downs, while being both cool, fun, and weird, I have to admit this series almost had me in tears the last episode. For its actually really sad, but in a kinda good way. So the entire series you can enjoy but you always have in the back of your mind the knowledge of what will inevitably happen and you always hope there will be someway around it and you feel there should be, but in the end you just have to watch the sadness built up from the beginning come out. So in a way this makes kuroshitsuji come full circle to actually being clever. All in all, this series is unpredictable but you'll love it no matter what your brain is telling you, and that, you gotta admit, is kinda cool.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Comparison: there is a wide range of opinions on the contrast between the manga and anime. a lot supporting the idea that the anime completely butchered the series and others saying it was awesome in its own way. so....i cant give an honest opinion. i can only say the manga has more story arcs and also its still going on.</div>
<div>
the anime and manga are licensed: the manga by <i>Yen Press </i>and the anime by <i>Funimation. </i>The anime was subbed by a combo of <i>A-Thryst</i>, <i>Roonery</i>, and <i>Shinsen</i>. there may be others but these are the main ones. honestly the subs for this series are a bit of a mess. but thanks for trying guys.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Sample Vid: okay for a good spoiler-free preview just watch the op of the series. but if you want a pretty cool amv and don't care about spoilers here it is. i am now in love with this song and all vocaloid for that matter.</div>

Airi soon takes in Aram, and finds the next morning that Aram has turned from a child inot a young man. Aram's servant [R]ei, explains that the spell Jeile cast was supposed to turn Aram into an old man when he entered darkness (night, a dark closet, etc.) and deny him the use of his magic. Of course it can't match VK, but merupuri does have its own...charm. I admit that I liked the series but its easier to see the cons than the pros on this one. Don't get me wrong it does have some strong good points, but it also has some probing not so fun characteristics.</div><div><br /></div><div>I am a big fan of Matsuri Hino's art work. It really captures the theme of every manga she does. This one being the royal-esque theme. That aside, the plot on the other hand leaves a little something to be desired. It tends to be a little inconsistent in quality. In my opinion it starts off one way then as the story progresses some concepts are completely forgotten and the style takes a different direction. It then goes strong for a while and then the end ends up being kinda weak. Also it sometimes gives the feeling that the author finished one idea then had to think for a while to think up a new one because the event transition is quite choppy.</div><div><br /></div><div>I personally think that the series could have very easily and maybe should have been only three volumes. Because quite honestly the fourth volume is mostly fluff. There is really only one chapter that maybe would have been good to have but other that there is a lot of info and side story that isn't needed. For being only four volumes the series dragged on a little too long.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCZOeFwgCCd446fgj70-d0gjmkghhMUHNUevrA6qXiWVsRxY4mfr_W-qbJxSWJ72DgA__YCdDl7c0-6R7oZUhBFwzfgJ4f-MPEQS5RPxR0VZ7WAADciA6iCXKWZGb_b_bO5BmZ1OTPa3c/s1600-h/00.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 180px; height: 250px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCZOeFwgCCd446fgj70-d0gjmkghhMUHNUevrA6qXiWVsRxY4mfr_W-qbJxSWJ72DgA__YCdDl7c0-6R7oZUhBFwzfgJ4f-MPEQS5RPxR0VZ7WAADciA6iCXKWZGb_b_bO5BmZ1OTPa3c/s320/00.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5363355038654018594" border="0" /></a></div><div><br />All that being said its not to say Merupuri is not worth reading. It can be really sweet. Though quite a bit you might catch yourself with the remembrance that it <i>is</i> a little weird, Aram being a little kid and all. But in between those moments you can't help but be swept away a little in the cute romance of the story. It really is quite sweet and gives you that happy feeling inside that we all love. </div><div><br /></div><div>So although not the best executed manga, Merupuri is a cute fairy tale like story and has its share of laughs and sighs. If you want a good fluff manga, I'd recommend this series. It will sweep you away someplace else.</div><div><br /></div><div>Info: this manga is on onemanga.com and mangafox.com. It is done by 3 scan groups. <i>Sweet Lunacy </i>did most of the series but the last chapters were don by a compilation of <i>TTexts </i>and <i>VK</i>.</div><div>This series is licensed in the U.S. by Viz Media. I don't mind the english trans that much but still there are a few things that bug me about it. But then again the scan groups though we applaud them for their effort didn't do the best on sentence structure and so left me struggling a bit.</div><div><br /></div><div>Vid: okay this vid is an awesome mmv in my opinion. IT DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS! so don't watch it until you're done with the manga or don't care. but even if you don't want to read the series you should watch it cause its good. watch in HQ please.</div><div><br /></div><br /><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WLraTL8kDs8&hl=en&fs=1&"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WLraTL8kDs8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>Kairihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14441539359473527802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799454892530435262.post-54119909504323703842009-07-20T23:01:00.000-07:002009-07-21T12:46:47.200-07:00Kamichama Karin (anime review/comparison)<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0G52Tw_tx4gHnIKPjHiY46xVZ0t4kjQWk58jG1m-Bu-a14J2z1dNblA4bdVo5qxAjw17oyeP4Cre8LExAbrsWLtEjxVu7KlDD1VnDs3oL3irBAx2WZrGnTHzAgSO5JcF5BrX3N1yaMno/s1600-h/kamichama-karin.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 199px; height: 256px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0G52Tw_tx4gHnIKPjHiY46xVZ0t4kjQWk58jG1m-Bu-a14J2z1dNblA4bdVo5qxAjw17oyeP4Cre8LExAbrsWLtEjxVu7KlDD1VnDs3oL3irBAx2WZrGnTHzAgSO5JcF5BrX3N1yaMno/s320/kamichama-karin.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346511334813602370" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7461">Kamichama Karin (anime)</a><div><br /></div><div>Production: <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=415">Satelight</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Adapted from a manga: see here</div><div>sequal: coming soon</div><div>OAVs: none</div><div>Movies: none</div><div>Live-action: none</div><div><br /></div><div>Genre: comedy, romance, magical girl/henshin, shojo(?)</div><div>Number of episodes: 26</div><div><br /></div><div>ANNs Plot summary: "Karin Hanazono is an orphan, living with her relatives. After that event, she experiences several mysterious incidences that soon led her to find out that she is a little goddess. On the contrary though the atmosphere is a little different. The anime plays up the comedy a lot more than the manga. Don't get me wrong. The manga is funny enough on its own. but the anime had me laughing so hard I was almost crying. The anime includes the bonus chapters from the special edition manga. I did not have the pleasure of reading these bonus chapters but I have the suspicion that there are even more bonus episodes. Filler eps if you would. For this reason I kinda see the anime as mostly fanservice. good fanservice but still.</div><div><br />One other thing is that I discovered that the manga is meant to be read first, the anime second, then the sequel. Unfortunately I had watched the anime first so I wasn't able to enjoy the manga with fresh perspective. The reason for this is because the anime begins in a part of Chu, the sequel, and then flashes back to the original series. Also there are two or three eps that have a merge effect where suzune, a character from chu appears and leads into an in between ep. So, the kamichama karn anime is a kind of bridge between the original and chu.<br /><div><div> <div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIUIyskBvJLfKr8mH46wrgayLwe2nhJquf2kHBka3Ce_zC3n6wAWcEKW3NkCDvyFI9OSh2CzAJ4nEuVROwfdc7brHU_z0yO1Zxt8jefxl4NZhs-dH5w49UGzcM8iDigVZGQhbGlmB4Gq4/s1600-h/A7461-33.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIUIyskBvJLfKr8mH46wrgayLwe2nhJquf2kHBka3Ce_zC3n6wAWcEKW3NkCDvyFI9OSh2CzAJ4nEuVROwfdc7brHU_z0yO1Zxt8jefxl4NZhs-dH5w49UGzcM8iDigVZGQhbGlmB4Gq4/s320/A7461-33.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346510976349762130" border="0" /></a></div> </div></div><br /><div> </div></div><div><div> </div></div><div> </div><div>One other thing the anime does differently is that they change the end around a little. I guess you could say they soften it. Yuuki has no part in the main plot, there is no weird girl with a notebook, and karasuma is more stupid than evil. meh.</div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, the anime is good to watch if you've read and liked the manga. Its good for something extra and gets you ready for the sequel. Even though I liked it a lot before I read the manga, I still like it now that I have. It's all good.</div><div><br /></div><div>Info: okay finding the subs for this anime was a pain in the ass. eps 1-17 were subbed by <i>kedex. </i>Unfortunately they completely stalled. Luckily a few months later a wonderful little group called <i>sunflower</i> was willing to pick it up out of impatience. They finished up eps 18-26. I personally thank these peeps because I think we all were getting pretty frustrated. </div><div>This series is not licensed in the U.S.</div>Kairihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14441539359473527802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799454892530435262.post-32694807401293549302009-07-19T23:19:00.000-07:002009-08-02T11:16:05.983-07:00Kamichama Karin<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpoEQav3ri0V9KSAYqOB_LQ92waMyzNqoJLUuIzFfWiAPn_l9vE3NV57Sd6iwamfa08UiKsy-n5cTkEizBo7A1pbxB-53XKs-gk2U2rIM3Qb507FQtnup1YKLErehss0RZk0GoUCNdUvU/s1600-h/01+%282%29.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 184px; height: 279px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpoEQav3ri0V9KSAYqOB_LQ92waMyzNqoJLUuIzFfWiAPn_l9vE3NV57Sd6iwamfa08UiKsy-n5cTkEizBo7A1pbxB-53XKs-gk2U2rIM3Qb507FQtnup1YKLErehss0RZk0GoUCNdUvU/s320/01+%282%29.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346205484894952418" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/manga.php?id=4046">Kamichama Karin</a><div><a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/manga.php?id=4046" style="text-decoration: none;"></a><br /><div>Story and Art by: <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=5924">Koge Donbo</a></div><div>Published by: <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=88">Kodansha</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Adapted into an anime: yes</div><div>Movie: no</div><div>Lived-action: no</div><div>Sequal: one - Kamichama Karin Chu</div><div><br /></div><div>Genre: comedy, romance, magical girl/henshin</div><div>Number of Tankoubon: 7</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">ANN's</span> Plot summary: "Orphan Hanazono Karin is a below-average girl who just lost another person dear to her; her best friend and loyal cat, Shi-chan. Not only is it beautiful in art style and content, but its laugh out loud funny. Its not another mahou shojo nor a dn angel. Its a really cute butterfly feel good series. Though the concept isn't quite original, the story is still a lot of fun. The one thing I really noticed about this series is that it doesn't spend a lot of time on the exposition. Its leaves you to contemplate for yourself as you read and doesn't explain anything until the climax at the end. In any series this can be good or bad. To do this correctly it has to give you enough so that you'll keep reading. Luckily, Kamichama has a lot of qualities that make it worth the read.</div><div><br /></div><div>For one thing, its hilarious. Just when its about to get kinda mushy or teary (and believe me it does. in a good way) one of the characters pops in as a chibi and says something ridiculous. It also helps that Karin is a little reactive and Kazune just can't help pushing her buttons. And also who can't forget the Brit who needs a lesson in proper etiquette of other cultures. Its definitely</div><div> packed full of fun. It certainly made me laugh.<br /><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5gsanitDBx2bo_pvVZiyIbx5gRmdDKDCuiqSDDN0W8uRUIyh6eU2swG6CWecXMyh8QvGW05lmbLwDyJqbwBcvTT6uBoaLWK85QtO8dfhAWgKRFOmiKeepM0zw06s0J033DgWWVfoK3sM/s320/01+%286%29.jpg" style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 180px; height: 269px;" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346205147450932178" border="0" /></div><div>Above everything else though, this series is adorably beautiful. Okay so the romance factor might not seem very strong at first but it definitely adds to the series' appeal. Its incredibly cute and you just can't help but go "aww". (I know. I'm such a girl) The art style seemed kinda wispy to me at first but either my opinion of it improved or the artist did because by the end I was in love with it. It definitely gives that "divine" quality the series calls for. </div><div><br /></div><div>So, all this being said, I can conclude that I did not waste my time with this series. I found it just by freak chance and ended up really really liking it. Its cute but not overbearingly so. Its a well balanced series and really enjoyable.</div><div><br /></div><div>Comparison: having watched the anime I'm giving a separate comparison/review <a href="http://animeactressotherside.blogspot.com/2009/07/kamichama-karin-anime-reviewcomparison.html">here</a>.</div><div>This series is on onemanga.com and was scanned by <i>Syuura. </i>I give a personal shout out of thanks to these guys both for doing the entire series and for putting it back up.</div><div>This manga is licensed by <i>TOKYOPOP.</i></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div>Kairihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14441539359473527802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799454892530435262.post-20790316487915037952009-07-16T23:19:00.000-07:002009-07-20T00:55:24.291-07:00Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strickers<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6FPK7m-SNSQtbwed1U4SyOX4Xhrf4QhBkkNYoqXx0gfJyoYSOB9p6kbPRxX52l_V0GWBFEoQC3UYZMuB2Sur9m9V6PIpxQ95SnI_TqDJPE9OY7UHXjP_hFA0cRoxxt-DOgb5IXnHYZJc/s1600-h/1170970458496wi81ds7.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 207px; height: 243px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6FPK7m-SNSQtbwed1U4SyOX4Xhrf4QhBkkNYoqXx0gfJyoYSOB9p6kbPRxX52l_V0GWBFEoQC3UYZMuB2Sur9m9V6PIpxQ95SnI_TqDJPE9OY7UHXjP_hFA0cRoxxt-DOgb5IXnHYZJc/s320/1170970458496wi81ds7.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359680936253483058" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6828">Mahou Shoujo Lyrial Nanoha Strikers</a><div><br /></div><div>Original Creator: <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=49383">Masaki Tsuzuki</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Production by: <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=4493">Seven Arcs</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Sequel of: <a href="http://animeactressotherside.blogspot.com/2009/02/magical-girl-lyrical-nanoha-as.html">Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's</a></div><div>OAVs: none</div><div>Movies: none</div><div>Live-Action: none</div><div>Extra: there are two sequel manga</div><div><br />Genre: Action, Magical Girl, technology/sci-fi, Drama</div><div>Number of Episodes: 26</div><div><br /></div><div>ANN's Plot Summary: "Set 10 years after the events in Lyrical Nanoha A's, now three Rank S mages, Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate are working for the Time-Space Administration Bureau. While I feel I could safely classify A's as simply a continuation of the original, Strikers definitely has that sequel factor. After all, we know Nanoha and Fate as the little kickass magical girls with style bigger than life. and quite frankly the fact that they were young gave MGLN some of its charm. So, now that they are all grown up the series can give a person mixed feelings. At times I found myself wondering who this Nanoha was. Was she the same little girl I knew from before. It can be a little heartbreaking to see your characters older but all you can do is hang on and try to accept them for what they are now even though you are so missing those little pigtails.</div><div><br /></div><div>For starters, the series, taking place ten years after A's, throws you without much warning. Different setting, different situation, different politics. Yeah. It gets quite confusing so it can feel like you're expected to know who all these people are and what's going on right away. Also during the series you can tell that the only reason this character asked this question was for the viewers own benefit. While the first two give a lot in a little package, the strikers package is poorly wrapped and quite frankly spewing out the edges.</div><div><br /></div><div>Another factor about this series is that it has a serious case of TMCS. (too many characters syndrome) There are so many characters, a lot of who you feel you're expected to know, and they all have to have their moment in the plot. So sometimes you find yourself asking 'wait who is that guy again?' also the constant switch between locations where each character is doing their own thing can get a little tiresome.</div><div><br />On the other hand, there is actually a reason this series gets <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTZnDUPB9AUziFMOjT8X3841CJ8AJq6H8gtEUT4bcG3Kv4Y6Yz3Qnsd_jPsMSI9kEBRgcjVrbPv42mMWq1lGt0G2uIYwJrHMWZVH9G57_L9skWQDQdaprlOqHZPimbBZcwA1TGWrvfTX0/s1600-h/Mahou_Shoujo_Lyrical_Nanoha.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 255px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTZnDUPB9AUziFMOjT8X3841CJ8AJq6H8gtEUT4bcG3Kv4Y6Yz3Qnsd_jPsMSI9kEBRgcjVrbPv42mMWq1lGt0G2uIYwJrHMWZVH9G57_L9skWQDQdaprlOqHZPimbBZcwA1TGWrvfTX0/s320/Mahou_Shoujo_Lyrical_Nanoha.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359678172832192706" border="0" /></a>3 1/2 stars. The plot is really clever. As the saga progressed it got closer and closer to sci-fi until this series reached the peak. Becoming a politically involved battle against bio-technological revolutionists and the Magical system of government support......it gave me a wonderful headache. Genius! and a bit freaky at times. Okay we've always had magic and technology but add in artificial human genetics and other means of inhumane acts and you've got one surprising freak show which luckily makes a lot more sense than this attempt of a review. oy. but again this series expects a little too much of its audience at times.</div><div><br /></div><div>Being full of action, strikers gives plenty of wow and boom. Of course we'd expect nothing less. Also I have to admit though this series was quite heart wrenching and emotional at times. But then that leads to the most important point I must make about strikers. Though it does take a while to get into things and the leading eps may feel awkward and dragging, the last episodes make it all worth while. Even if them being older is a total turnoff, even if you are really confused and overloaded. Stick with it long enough to watch the last episodes. They are amazing.</div><div><br /></div><div>And so that's my review for Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strikers. It was difficult to put into words but this is the best conclusion of the series I could come to. And I think it works.</div><div><br /></div><div>Comparison: same as predecessor.</div><div>For the best quality subs get the DVD rips by <i>Coldlight</i>. was also subbed by <i>Teadium</i>. this series is not licensed.</div><div><br /></div><div>Sample Vid: Again. Its like they split a 26 episode series into two; the first 13 being the set up, and the last 13, occurring 6 months later, is when things really start happening.<br /><br />The first had strong points, but A's brings the saga up a notch. The title of the first episode says it all 'a very sudden beginning'. haha, very funny. Being only 13 eps causes some people to see the two anime as rushed in their plot line, I actually like this because then it doesn't leave time for filler conversations. This being said, it makes sense that A's doesnt waste any time and brings an explosive battle the very first episode. It was well put. This <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_12">anime</span> is crazy. Everything is over the top in this series but <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_13">that's</span> not <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_14">necessarily</span> a bad thing. Its this extreme nature that gives it most of its humor. The voice actors of <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_15">SNH</span> deserve mad props considering the major talent it takes to endure the kind of vocal strain it must take to make the characters' voices flux from yelling at the top of their lungs to going deep and evil then high and cute in the count of 30 seconds. The series was obviously well put together in that area of expertise.</span></div><br /><div>In my little world there are two kinds of comedies: the kind that are really funny but still stick to the cool story and then the kind that are crazy funny but don't have much of a plot. The thing that threw me off about <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_16">SNH</span> was that it didn't fit into either. The way I see it is its like both kinds of <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_17">anime</span> slapped <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_18">on top</span> of <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_19">each other</span>; the craziness <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_20">overriding</span> for a while until the point where it gets a little tiresome and annoying but then the plot suddenly pops up to the surface in a totally awesome, well-balanced episode. Taking this into account the series is a bit bumpy in my perspective. The first six episodes were a tad annoying then went into three totally awesome <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_21">eps</span> then went up and down a little more until the totally sweet two <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_22">ep</span> finale. (I'm serious. the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_23">last</span> two are win)</div><br /><div>In my opinion they <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_24">could've</span> toned it down a little if not just spread the insanity <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJuwEje_MGPHoK34uYRcUbkrDsN2JE3lFUF48T-llxtLk1MEcd-m__qZOifspeJYnBfB1PnPo6bADM5tjrsyabUZYIW8Ct_jSWja0mDenNgYEgKQnieeiOE1J8reG_12LsiS3FujZJxtE/s1600-h/seto-2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247158979504967026" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 238px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 138px" height="139" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJuwEje_MGPHoK34uYRcUbkrDsN2JE3lFUF48T-llxtLk1MEcd-m__qZOifspeJYnBfB1PnPo6bADM5tjrsyabUZYIW8Ct_jSWja0mDenNgYEgKQnieeiOE1J8reG_12LsiS3FujZJxtE/s320/seto-2.jpg" width="280" border="0" /></a>a little more evenly. Looking back on this series I have the strangest picture in my head of a slice of bread with peanut butter and blobs of jelly in <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_25">random</span> places. Okay maybe that's a bad <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_26">analogy</span>, but I just see it as a way to get my point across. As for the <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_27">awesomeness</span> of this series with the crazy ear abuse aside, I'd say it was pretty cool. Don't let the pretty mermaids fool you, they're still part of the mafia. There's still gonna be some <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_28">buttwuppen</span> amongst all the screaming, and THAT is what I like. Not to mention a little romance in the mix. For the moment I will only touch on the anime and make no reference to the book because the anime can honestly be given its own review. For one this series was incredibly well done. It was intense, full of action, and didn't cut short on the mystery factor. This anime was exquisite to behold in art style and animation, but that didn't in any way overpower the plot which was just as intricate and bad ass. The mystery that enveloped the Count was to be left on everything he touched to keep one ignorant of certain things until the climax of the story. This made you want to keep watching to find out what would happen next and to unravel his enigmatic cloak. The story captured your interest while the gorgeous affects kept you engrossed to not look away for a minute.</span><br /><br />One thing I particularly liked about this series was its consistency. There was never a lack for speculation on behalf of the plot nor was there a lapse in the intense emotion accompanied with the story. Up until the end there were times when the viewer would still be dying to know what would be the outcome of the Count's quest for revenge. What feelings would each of the characters choose as the most dominant in their actions?<br /><br />The action is pretty win in this series. Though its not all fighting and bloodshed<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZMTv_0SE0vIzzsF5S61J-reJppJjfjKZQMlxxbQRwvWEQUzGTKaWcf90TdIgP_p8Bn70mY8twivgkXWBI9RB-QzT3qZrL1PJaAo8bTLlt0XjfbtYC7X9j7X3f8VcNzBDz7QSxkK3g20k/s1600-h/800-by-600-570079-20080831003434.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242307248631022786" style="margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; float: right; width: 222px; height: 163px;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZMTv_0SE0vIzzsF5S61J-reJppJjfjKZQMlxxbQRwvWEQUzGTKaWcf90TdIgP_p8Bn70mY8twivgkXWBI9RB-QzT3qZrL1PJaAo8bTLlt0XjfbtYC7X9j7X3f8VcNzBDz7QSxkK3g20k/s320/800-by-600-570079-20080831003434.jpg" width="259" border="0" height="166" /></a> its still gives a thrill as the Count weaves his web of vengeance around the unsuspecting cast of characters. Not to mention the fact that the anime takes place in a futuristic setting which opens the door to some of the coolest ways to kill people. mwahaha.(couldn't resist).<br /><br />This anime deserves its props and I'm willing to give them. It was the right combination of action and mystery in the most perfect amount of time. It left one with closure and was not so overpowering that the viewer is still left uneasy. I can once again describe this series as consistent but also well proportioned. With that, I confess my love for this story and bid you <em>Au Revoir. </em>"Bide your time and hold out hope."<br /><br />Comparison: Gankutsuou was ingenious in its adaptation from the original book and let itself become its own entity of awesomeness. At this time I must admit to my other identity as a bookworm in order to give a full report. (it so happens I had to read this book for summer reading the same time I was introduced to the anime. haha.) In most book to movie adaptations the movie is doomed to fail because it often tries to go in the same direction in a different way, therefore, suckage. Gankutsuou on the other hand was spared in complete fail because it branched off in a different direction in order to do things differently, hence a good story on its own alltogether.<br />The characters retain their names and occupations along with their connection to each other very accurately. The plot also retains most of its shape, but it does deviate from the facts. For example: Franz and Eugenie have barely any part in the original story. We see Franz only twice while Eugenie doesn't have one line.<br />The anime was put more in Albert's perspective while the book stays in a 3rd person omniscient with a little more attention to the Count himself, hence, depicting him as a little more human than the enigma presented in the anime. There are other things I could touch on but I fear of boring the audience of this ANIME blog. For more I'd suggest Wikipedia but I just like giving my two cents on the matter.<br /><div><div><div><div>Gankutsuou was subbed by <em>KAA (kick ass anime) </em>and licensed by <em>bang zoom! entertainment.</em><br /><br />Sample Vid: I once again don't know of a good amv but the ED for the series is a pretty good representation for a sneak peek at what its all about. without spoilers.<br /><br /><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/03zDv5tSkMQ&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/03zDv5tSkMQ&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object></div></div></div></div>Kairihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14441539359473527802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799454892530435262.post-65597807870488869652008-09-03T12:15:00.000-07:002009-04-03T13:12:14.134-07:00AMV of the Week 8so sorry for yet another delay between reviews. there is a particular anime i want to do next that is sure to be full of action. so to help your patience here is a really cool collaboritive amv. its 70 anime (the list may be found <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=17794">here</a>) to <em>It's Tricky </em>by Run DMC<br /><br /><strong><span style="font-size:100%;">It's Tricky to make a Music Video</span></strong><br /><strong><span style="font-size:100%;"></span></strong><br /><br /><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4CazZR8kRG8&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4CazZR8kRG8&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>Kairihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14441539359473527802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799454892530435262.post-22018032078594250382008-08-27T14:06:00.000-07:002009-01-28T16:39:14.075-08:00H2O~Footprints in the Sand~<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwT92BAZnH-L4B1Qc-aP4cPmSL8oQwkhF2KiBABluz6_P4V9xT1kjG6C8gU32cyQN8ywQD3-ZoTGQ4SHzafea4I_wS0IL6XXN9fLbMi0doT-nWJJPCAvT94oDPraSnhDzdC3LBbEdf3Y8/s1600-h/74fa01a7d291c4b284f02bd666006c6c_0.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239329179063370898" style="margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; float: right; width: 213px; height: 207px;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwT92BAZnH-L4B1Qc-aP4cPmSL8oQwkhF2KiBABluz6_P4V9xT1kjG6C8gU32cyQN8ywQD3-ZoTGQ4SHzafea4I_wS0IL6XXN9fLbMi0doT-nWJJPCAvT94oDPraSnhDzdC3LBbEdf3Y8/s320/74fa01a7d291c4b284f02bd666006c6c_0.jpg" width="221" border="0" height="191" /></a><a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=8786">H2O~Footprints in the Sand~</a><br /><br /><div><div><div><div>Original Creator: <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=6736">Makura</a></div><div> </div><div></div><div></div><div>Production by: <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=1215">ZEXCS</a></div><br /><div>Adapted from a manga: kind of. Of course that doesn't leave me without an opinion, it just makes the production of one more difficult to put into words. I was told this series was very sad and at first I didn't see it. Unfortunately I soon saw that it was. The story, while sometimes a bit jumbled and unclear, is very touching and melancholy. Its progression is very steady in the sense that even though each episode takes the focus of one of the characters it doesn't interfere with the plot. While there may be instances when you'll wonder 'was that really necessary? or was it there for filler?' well, most likely its not. I have to believe that underneath, the creators have an incredible sense of humor while producing such a melodramatic series. This is was proved in some necessary comic relief in episode 8. Good thing too because after that there isn't much of a let up in emotion.</span></div><br /><div>What I particularly liked about this series was that the characters were more well rounded than those in most anime. The characters weren't one sided, fitting into a type, but nearly all of them had both good sides and personal conflict. This allows the series its emotion by not having a character that will make everything alright with the spout of a few words of wisdom. Each one may help the other but sooner or later have their own conflict to deal with. Its like I said before, this series doesn't waste anything. Everything has its own little purpose for happening.</div><br /><div>Though this series may be sad or melodramatic it doesn't leave a gnawing, need<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGs-NdM2AxPuIiDTKo5lC2HeNWeNIAYIjOxqvFo2VhuVnfXhJNvKzSRXd42305uAU0gVDQ8db1RGQXKOBxxxthntoxKCJEhSU76foOZI36WwD1J__cD67Nkn7omG87oxs13tK2pWPxhD0/s1600-h/h2o01smallsy6.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239331181267430626" style="margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; float: right; width: 255px; height: 140px;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGs-NdM2AxPuIiDTKo5lC2HeNWeNIAYIjOxqvFo2VhuVnfXhJNvKzSRXd42305uAU0gVDQ8db1RGQXKOBxxxthntoxKCJEhSU76foOZI36WwD1J__cD67Nkn7omG87oxs13tK2pWPxhD0/s320/h2o01smallsy6.jpg" width="295" border="0" height="160" /></a> for closure feeling. You might feel bad or clench your desk in anger but the series leaves room for acceptance. All in all, this series introduced me to a new potential for anime. It was something out of the ordinary for me and I have to admit that I enjoyed it while I still don't know quite what to think of it.</div><br /><div>Comparison: Like's been said above, this series was first an adult game for the PC then converted into a manga, then an anime, finally ending with a game for the PS2 with removed adult content. The manga is only two volumes long and is not licensed while the anime was just made so. The anime was subbed by <em>Bakawolf-m.3.3.w </em>subs.</div><br /><div>Sample vid: sorry no vid again. This series is short so its hard to find an amv without spoilers let alone one that's any good. Not to mention that this anime is fairly new so its not to well known yet.</div></div></div></div>Kairihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14441539359473527802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799454892530435262.post-87463774599386536262008-08-15T14:05:00.000-07:002009-04-03T13:18:43.117-07:00AMV of the Week 7well im currently reading like five manga series and am watching an anime of the book im supposed to read for summer reading. haha. it will be interesting when i actually read the book afterwards. sorry i wont be writing any reaviews till i finish it though since its going to take forever to get the Keshin movie i want to watch for the sake of reviewing it. i accidently watched the OAV reflection before which was depressing because i should have watched the other OAV first. sigh. spoilage. oh well. ive been fervently trying to scour my brothers amv collection in the attempt to bring in something new so here are the slightly too ripe fruits of my effort.<br /><br /><strong>Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot</strong><br /><strong></strong><br /><br /><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/mlcBuAOT7us&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/mlcBuAOT7us&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>Kairihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14441539359473527802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799454892530435262.post-74541996236927935852008-08-13T12:54:00.000-07:002008-08-13T13:41:06.614-07:00Genres and Themes of Anime/MangaWhile like any other type of media/literature, anime and manga have been placed into general genres. However there are many other themes and categories that anime and manga are placed in. Most of these specific terms are difficult to understand considering their Japanese origin but this list of definitions I hope can help create a better interpretation.<br />Most of these are thanks to the Anime article from <a href="http://www.wikipedia.org/">wikipedia.org</a>. I do not lay claim to any of these definitions in quotes, but will only allow myself to expand on these in my own words.<br /><br /><strong>"Major Genres"</strong><br /><br />"<a class="mw-redirect" title="Action genre" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_genre">Action</a>/<a title="Adventure film" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_film">Adventure</a> primarily focuses on battles, war, and physical competition. I was very much in love with it for the first 30 eps or so. The action was win and the characters could actually provide quite a bit of humor. I really liked the story and concepts that went along with the time period. The old samurai-like atmosphere was something I really enjoyed. I'm sure there are fans out there saying I'm not giving the series enough credit but the thing is I'm trying very hard to give props to a category I'm not all to familiar with so I hope they'll forgive me.</span><br /></div><div>Though I haven't seen this anime described as historical fiction I think it should be. There is an educational feel to it sometimes which I actually liked for once. This series can also make you think. Some of the things the characters say are really well put and meaningful. A few times I found myself pausing the ep to think for a few seconds before resuming. Also the time period it was put in opened up a bunch of opportunities for the plot. The series takes place in the Meji Era or commonly known as the 1870s. I believe this is the time around where Japan finally opened up to the world after being secluded for so long. There were allot of things happening around this time which gives the story allot of interesting views.</div><br /><div>The only thing that actually bugged me about this series was that I kept getting <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOY9Zx7PgWRplumFyLZPbeKpMMK1GWNoy9k5liGC26G4FVYuNBo6djFs4Jhl_zd5xxaLhjjMIyTswms51GUXgbQTvQDL7UnPG4BiJeeCyUmVb0SVYgk_jM6QDXtziRYfG3lQJnqIIWkCo/s1600-h/380265-20070113034210.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5229647142203793586" style="margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; float: right; width: 225px; height: 162px;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOY9Zx7PgWRplumFyLZPbeKpMMK1GWNoy9k5liGC26G4FVYuNBo6djFs4Jhl_zd5xxaLhjjMIyTswms51GUXgbQTvQDL7UnPG4BiJeeCyUmVb0SVYgk_jM6QDXtziRYfG3lQJnqIIWkCo/s320/380265-20070113034210.jpg" width="240" border="0" height="142" /></a>burned out. 95 eps is allot compared to normal series. Of course it is a Shonen Jump and those tend to be longer than normal. Still, the plot was very up and down for me. As I said, I was good for the first 30 eps or so but then I started to get tired. The series developed a thing i like to call stop and go syndrome. Where the series is full of little adventures compiled into a series. Yes the little adventures were cool most of the time but it still left a 'Hey Kenshin, have you seen the plot anywhere?' feel.</div><br /><div>Amidst all the flakiness of this review I'd like to make clear that I did like this series. It was cool, full of action, and made me laugh allot too. It was pretty well rounded it just could have been planned better in accordance to its length.</div><br /><div>Comparison: Watching this anime was an experience in itself for me. sub or dub? (subs better!) where to find it. (four different sub groups in different locations. whew I'm exhausted). Well, both the manga and the anime were cancelled mid series which explains the sudden drop at the end of the series that leaves a 'wait, what? that's the end?'. It also explains why even though its a Shonen Jump why its shorter than most series from there. I know nothing of the manga unfortunately so I cannot assess a proper comparison. For that I am sorry. I can only warn you of the sudden cancellation of the series, not for lack of funds but I think because the artist simply stopped. </div><br /><div>Sample vid: sorry to disappoint but I could not find a good amv that did not have a butt load of spoilers or an assortment of clips from the OAVs mixed in. sorry. If anyone finds anything on their own, let me know.</div></div></div>Kairihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14441539359473527802noreply@blogger.com1
